Free Beer?

Once again we know you, our fair weather friends, aren’t coming in. So make an appearance today or tomorrow (even colder) and we’ll buy you a glass of beer. Ok, not one of the super-expensive ones, but we’re negotiable and easy. And, yes, you have to buy a sandwich, cheapskate. Say the magic words “freakin’ freezin'”, or whatever.

Heaven Hill barrel rack
Monday, Jan 26th – WICKER PARK, 7pm. UPDATE: This event is SOLD OUT.
We’re going in deep to taste how barrels impact and impart flavor on some of our favorite beverages with Goose Island Beer Co and Heaven Hill Distilleries. Chris Tabor from Heaven Hill will be explaining the first “life cycle” as we taste 4 whiskeys, from an un-aged spirit to an old timer. Then Mike Siegel, Director of Innovation at Goose Island will be pouring and discussing the Second and Third rounds of the barrel’s use from GI’s barrel-aging program, using mostly Heaven Hill wood. This will be a pre-sold, ticketed event as we only have limited beer and whiskey to pour. Ticket price is $60 (includes tax & gratuity) and gets purchaser pours of the 4 whiskeys and 4 beers listed below, as well as snacks (Philly pretzels, house-made beer cheese). Additional food and beverage items will be available for purchase.

-Heaven Hill Trybox Series New Make – Un-aged Whiskey
-Evan Williams White Label – 4 Year old Bourbon
-Evan Williams Single Barrel – 10 Year Bourbon
-Elijah Craig 23 Year Bourbon – Very special release

-GI 2010 Nightstalker – Un-aged stout base for Bourbon County Stout series
-GI Bourbon County Stout (BCS) – Imperial Stout aged in spent Heaven Hill barrels (80% HH, 20% Beam)
